Course Overview

Covers flash and artificial lighting methods with a variety of subjects including still-life and portraits. Includes practical shooting sessions with a variety of still-life subjects and a model portrait session. Best for owners of digital SLR cameras with good basic photo skills. Lunches included both days.

Model portrait studio shooting session

What to Bring: your digital camera with fresh batteries, memory card and instruction manual, tripod, and any specific questions you want answered. Also any specific lenses and/or equipment you want to try.

Your Trainers

Terry Oakley and Calvin Harris, are your Photoskills tutors who have over 50 years combined experience in photoimaging practice, teaching and photo sales. Our courses let you take advantage of their extensive skills and experience to get the best practical information and advice to apply to your photographic pursuits.

Terry Oakley is a professional photographer and teacher with over 30 years experience. After graduating from RMIT he worked in medical photography before pursuing a freelance career doing mainly scientific and technical photo assignment work. At the same time he started sessional teaching in adult education and TAFE colleges. Currently he also teaches accredited photography course subjects at Brougham School of Art & Photography in Geelong.

Calvin Harris has a background of over 20 years in professional freelance photography and photo sales. His great passion for motorbikes has led him to assignments around the country photographing for the top motorbike magazines and manufacturers. Currently based in Geelong, in Victoria, Australia, he still covers local sports events and does freelance photo work. When he finds the time he likes to indulge his other passion of landscape photography.
